La información cartográfica muestra exclusivamente un escenario de amenaza de inundación por DESBORDAMIENTO del río Cauca y la parte baja de sus tributarios principales, para un período de retorno en su cauce principal de 100 años, y caudales máximos registrados en los tributarios. No se consideran inundaciones por niveles freáticos altos ni aguas pluviales estancadas. Se consideró la amenaza en niveles bajos, medios y altos, analizando la distribución espacial y magnitud de las profundidades y velocidades de inundación. (CVC; Univalle,2010). <\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P>

La geometría 2D del modelo está basada en el Modelo Digital de Elevación Lidar con resolución 1 m desarrollado por CVC en el año 2013, mientras que la geometría 1D se basa en el levantamiento topobatimétrico de 749 secciones transversales a lo largo de 445 km del río, del año 2012. Se realizó la calibración del modelo hidráulico para todo el corredor con el evento de creciente de noviembre-diciembre 2010, mientras que la validación se realizó con el evento de creciente de mayo 2017. Se compararon los resultados de niveles, caudales y manchas de inundación modelados con registros de las estaciones de medición sobre el río y áreas inundadas a partir de registros aéreos y satelitales, obteniendo coincidencias satisfactorias. <\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P>
